If you're into copious diary taking then Bioy Casares' diaries on his conversations with Borges are out now in a book that shows what curious people these two were.

I'd like to recommend Borges' Harvard Lectures on Poetry: The Riddle of Poetry; The Metaphor; The Telling of the Tale. It's wonderful to hear him hold hour long lectures reciting extracts from literature from memory, sharing his thoughts while twisting the minds of his listeners.

It's hard to know where to begin with Borges. My favourite may be The Aleph - but it's a writer I keep coming back to, constantly.

1600 pages  :o That's bigger than War & Peace and about the same size as The Anatomy of Melancholy. I'm not going through that again!

I finished The Invention of Morel this evening. It really is a brilliant novella and I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading and enjoys rather fantastic stories. It illimunates parts of Last Year in Marienbad too; though the film, in spite of similarities to the text, is strong enough to pay homage to the work without being reliant on it at all.
