This was my second go, not counting the odd episode I watched uncommittedly on PBS in western New York.

yes. Everyone I know who watched ut whene it aired spoke very highly of it!

After finishing Star Trek: Voyager (the entire last season, but especially the finale, was excellent), we backed up to Deep Space Nine.  About half way through Season One and it is not clicking. 



A big problem for me is the actor playing Sisco. Way too stentorian. Also some of the plots seem stupid. My favorite character so far is Odo the shapeshifter. The banter between his character and Quark, the Ferengi club owner, is the best thing about the series, at least, so far.  But that isn'y really enough to hold my interest.

I'll hold on until Season 3 when they introduce some new characters and plot elements which supposedly improve the overall narrative. For one thing, Worf comes back.

The first two seasons are lousy.  I liked the episode where Dax has to decide if she will follow a blood oath that Kirzon made and help out some old Klingon friends.  But you can safely skip to the finale of season 2 without missing anything important to the main arc. 

Season six is imo just great.  You'll see the Federation being pushed to the point of collapse, and characters being morally tested at every turn and sometimes failing.  But you have to watch seasons 3-5 in order to really follow it.

Wait, check this out even better than just skipping to the end of season 2.  This is a good guide, you could just watch the episodes rated "engage!" and you'll hit all the important points and avoid the garbage.

In DS9's initial run in the 90's, I made it through a few episodes and dumped it. Was very disappointed at the time, and thus never hopped aboard Voyager either. Came back for Enterprise.

So my survey of All in the Family got paused (probably a result of requested titles coming in at the Library. I've also been re-reading Where's My Fortune Cookie?  the fascinating as well as entertaining memoirs of The Firesign Theatre's Phil Proctor, who has worked a great deal through the years as an actor. To wit, there's a photo of his appearance in an All in the Family episode, "The Insurance Is Cancelled," which happened to be the last ep. I watched, pre-pause. I wouldn't ever tell Mr P. this, but I didn't recognize him, so I made a point of watching afresh last night. He plays Edith's nephew, who sold the Bunkers their home insurance policy. He does a fine job of being funny playing a nebbish insurance salesman, while being a good guest and never upstaging the stars.

Pretty much my story as well, except that l also ignored Enterprise...

Some of the films were engaging for me, but l didn't take any of the series seriously until Picard, and then Strange New Worlds.
