Star Wars: Visions
Season 1 & 2 (2021-2023)

10-20 minute short story style storytelling.

Season 1 used seven different Japanese anime studios, some pensive and moody whereas others are ultra-high energy, while Season 2 went worldwide with studios like Aardman and Secret of Kells.

I like the variety of moods, animation styles, and cultural perspectives poured into these short SW themed tales.

I'm only 25 minutes into part 1 of 3 of this but so far, it is excellent. The music is GREAT!

Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi (2022)

Whew, the last of animated SW with my daughter. It was a long haul.

This short, six episode jaunt is for those who can't stand loose ends, focusing on Count Dooku and Ahsoka. 15-minute episodes that were never shown visually, but were explained well enough through dialogue in the movies and TV shows.

Now on to Ahsoka.

I'm watching Dicte, a Danish series about a woman crime reporter. It's far more female oriented than any other European crime show I've seen.

The (original) 80s version of Dynasty on Prime ... while I ride my pro form studio bike (which I swear my mother bought in, like, '85  ;D).

I had a massive crush on Pamela Sue Martin when I was a kid. But not for her role as Fallon in Dynasty.

How does the show look now?

The assortment of the last 2 or 3 weeks :

Borgen - Season No.1 (and started No.2) - Gripping in its own peculiar slowish way. Loving this.

Scrubs - Season No.1 (and halfway through No.2 as well) - revisiting a favourite of mine (but never got beyond season 4 or 5 I think).

Criminal UK - Seasons Nos.1 & 2 - Very tense series set solely in and around a Police Interview room. Brilliant series and great cast to boot. Will follow this with Criminal France (and probably Spain & Germany as well later on.

It had been years since I had seen any episodes. I always felt a sort of affection for this series. Even if some jokes may not fit today's society anymore, I still find it very enjoyable with the right balance of goofiness, sarcasm and the emotional punches hitting you now and them.

Beside the above, we also have Series 3 of the Morning Show on the go, week by week. Hopefully this will redeem itself from poorer series 2.

We are waiting for The Morning Show (and Billions) seasons to be over before starting. Easier to follow (and binge) that way.  8)

Just got around to finishing this ('Happy Valley' being the name the locals give to the area in Yorkshire, owing to its drugs problem), and as I was with the previous two series, am blown away by the quality and intensity of it. It picks you up and never lets go until well after the final curtain. The writing's extraordinary, Sarah Lancashire in the lead role is utterly magnetic, pretty much every actor shines unforgettably, and the direction (with a different director for each series) is uniformly brilliant.
The sort of commitment shown to it by the makers of the series, is evident in the decision to wait seven years between the second and third series, for a nine-year-old actor (playing a central role) to grow up into the sixteen-year-old version of himself, as required for the plot. And it's a gesture that pays off richly, imparting an authenticity and 'reality' to the character and surrounding drama that would be impossible to manufacture.
A series overall that makes me optimistic about the future of TV drama, and that qualifies for the 'unmissable' category with room to spare.

Ahsoka (2023)
Rosario Dawson, David Tennant, Ray Stevenson
Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Hayden Christiansen
Lars Mikkelsen

Finishing Ahsoka up this week, and thus the end of my Star Wars dive with my daughter. At least this show rewards our exhaustive watching.

The 12 90-minute episodes that make up all four seasons.

He does that thing he has to do in the last episode especially well, and must have practiced hard for it.
