Very enjoyable disk. I didn't get it at first, but it grows on me with every listen.

First listen. Recorded last August in Sweden.

There are two Avishai Cohens. This is the bassist: the Avishai Cohen who plays trumpet records with ECM. (They're both good. )
Although the ensemble carries Cohen's name, the musical focus seems mostly to be on the pianist

So...have Avishais Cohen recorded together yet?

Gene Harris: Funky Gene's

This is fine music making and what impresses me most is the quality of the piano playing.

Thank you for the recommendation.
From what I have heard on the above disc he appears to be a very fine player.

Gene Harris is rather popular, as a former member of the Three Sounds. I knew of his reputation as bluesy, high-energy, upbeat, etc. but didn't explore his music for a long time. When I did, I was seriously impressed by his technical facility, in addition to the other qualities.

Pat Metheny - lead guitar
Jaco Pastorius - fretless bass (Fender Jazz)

I love Red Garland. I read that he used to be a professional or semi-professional boxer. Funny, his touch with piano is so tender.  ;D
Also he liked eating ice cream all the time. Ironically Miles was not happy about his playing and he eventually got Winton Kelly.

Thank you for the information on Red Garland. I particularly like the comment on his tender touch on the piano given that he was a boxer.  ;D

Listened to these over the weekend. All for the first time. I didn't finished Brubeck though. I tried it twice but it just doesn't sound right.
