Thanks for the Dyani recommendations, I'll be checking those out. I know I've heard Congregation, but don't remember it now, will have to give it another play.

Cool that you got to hang out with John Tchicai - what did you talk about?

Never really managed to get a grip on Romanian jazz yet (no reissues available, just some stray stuff on blogs), but Raducanu is one of the names that got stuck in my mind, at least.

@SimonNZ: I was on vacation for a few days - hope you enjoyed those Dyani discs!

My most recent jazz spin was this here, bought used/cheap on said vacation:

Es wollt ein meydlein grasen gan:
Fick mich, lieber Peter!
Und do die roten röslein stan:
Fick mich, lieber Peter!
Fick mich mehr, du hast dein ehr.
Kannstu nit, ich wills dich lern.
Fick mich, lieber Peter!

Very much so, especially the Afrika album. Thanks for leading me to them.

The "Afrika" one has such a stark cover already ... and music to match it, dark and brooding and extremely powerful!

Glad to hear you liked these!
