New from Chick Corea

Live trio date with Christian McBride and Brian Blade.  Some of his best playing in years.

Cool!

It is hard to believe that Corea was 78 when he made that recording.  Still going strong.

New Chautauqua on ECM? Wow, I've owned that since the early '80s (was really into early Metheny), but haven't listened in, well, forever [correction] listened to all his early albums in succession 2 or 3 years ago.

Metheny's As Falls Witchita was the first ECM I heard - and remains a sentimental favorite.

hmm...might try playing that later today

Great stuff!

Desert island material for me. Practically the mother lode of bebop (although Dameron was not absolutely bop oriented), and Navarro was awesome.

Well, for a newbie like me I experiment whit free-jazz and love it so much, I discover Arthur Doyles, very  pleasing music to my ears, I'm looking forward for free-jazz master of the early century, I guess the music is awesome, free-jazz is my cup of tea, Ornette Coleman is  fabulous,
I hope you guys will recommended great name off this genre, Jazz is so much relaxing & moody.

What should I seek, if I like Arthur Doyles, Ornette coleman and cecyl Taylor I.e.

Most free-jazz experimental player, has I were told wheent to live in France due to racism in america according to a friend of mine, who own a shop of record in my city, what are these great expatriate Jazz man that move in France, do you have some name for me , try this deprofundis or this, you would love them?

I was harsh on rap, since I don't like it, but this does ain't mean black folks did not made awesome music, and I salute them here on GMG.

Mosaic The Complete Hank Mobley Blue Note Sessions 1963-70

This just arrived, have listened to 6 of the 8 discs.
[Added] This is a newly-released Mosaic box. The old Complete Blue Note Hank Mobley 1950s Sessions,

which I've owned for a long time, finally sold out a couple of years ago. Mosaic seem to be winding down their operation, but a Lee Morgan 1960s Blue Note set is allegedly forthcoming.

I think that is a great set - I really like those Mosaic boxes and have a bunch of them.

Jazz-Rock rather than jazz I guess:

"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).
