Bye Bye Blackbird, Keith Jarrett. Makes me emotional a little.

Interesting cover art.

I think that it is quite graphic and a touch poignant.

Yes, I love the pic. Unfortunately there is no LP record issue of this recording. So I cannot display the jacket art on wall.

Perhaps you could take a photo of a good quality image and have it printed say 10" X 8" and framed.
Worth a try for an image like that.  ;)

Excellent idea! I will look for a nice quality pic!
Probably a black frame will be good.

If it works post an image of it framed on a wall.  8)  :)

A black frame would be mandatory for the tone of that image  ;)

Best of luck with it.  :)

Archie Shepp: Deja Vu

This is a great mixture of music and music making from the laid back to the animated and exciting.

I once found posters/prints of a bunch of old Prestige album covers at the Fine Art America website. But I don't know of any outlet for ECM album cover art (such as Bye Bye Blackbird).

It's slightly funny to see an Archie Shepp album on the Japanese Venus label (known for straight-ahead programming and soft-porn cover art). Shepp once had a big reputation for free/outside playing (a bit overdone IMO, since a blues influence is generally clear), and only later developed a "mellower" side. Not to criticize; I like his straight-ahead recordings that I've heard.

Sonny Rollins Vol. 2. Typical Rudy van Gelder sound.

Bobby McFerrin.

Neat!

I have had a few opportunities to see Bobby McFerrin through his work in my area with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. I think he got pigeon-holed with Don't Worry, Be Happy, but I enjoy his style.

His a cappella cover of The Beatles' Blackbird is perhaps my favorite from seeing him live.

Yes, he is an incredible vocalist. Plus, he is like a human synthesizer!

Some of her albums are straight-ahead jazz, some are pop, and many are mixture of them. I think some of her recordings are excellent. The below is my favorite. She is with Hank Jones, Jimmy Cobb and Eddie Gomez.

That's a good one indeed. I've had it for a while now, but I remember having to search for it for a few years before finally getting a copy.

I generally like all her recordings up to when you start hearing synthesiers and even drum machines (late Capitol and the Columbia years). After that it gets spotty, but there are some definite diamonds throughout her career. If I had to pick a favourite it might be Yesterday's Love Songs/Today's Blues, but there are several that are right up there. The Nancy Wilson Show has a couple wonderful examples of what rarely works, at least on repeated listenings: comedy songs.

The Nancy Wilson Show!

Yes, I think Yesterday's Love Songs, and Today, Tomorrow, and Forever are excellent albums.
The album with George Shearing is cool too. I like Nancy Wilson Show, with some nice songs including Guess Who I Saw Today. Do you have a video of Carnegie Live? The way the opening number, Dearly Beloved, is done was so so so cool and killing!

KevinP

I do have it, though it's been a long time since I've watched it. I need to rectify this.
