Think I'll wait until they've released them all before I venture an investment. Looks promising, though.

I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the heads-up.

Like you, I think I'll wait and see how the series takes shape and what feedback it gets.

There was a 40cd set from a bargain label called "The Duke: The Complete Works, 1924-1947" which I considered, but it seemed it had no notes of any kind and possibly lesser-quality transfers. But I might reconsider it, if it ever appears in front of me again.

The first four installments are available on Spotify and I assume other streaming services.  They are fantastic.

Haven't listened to Redman in a while either. His previous albums started to seem too samey. But this one was unexpectedly good. Something new, or a new level. And interesting vocals.

You're Welcome. A very good box set of Duke's Orchestral Suites was just delivered and despite the varying quality of the tracks I can heartily recommend it. Here's Dave Hurwitz' review of the set -

One of my favorite releases from Mehldau. Nice to take with you round the town.

I still haven't made my way through all the CDs, I have to admit. But what I've heard has been fascinating.

Wynton Marsalis Septet Live at the Village Vanguard (1999, Columbia)

Eliane Elias - Kissed By Nature. A lot of Herbie Hancock influence.

Roasted Swan

I was very impressed indeed by this disc;

Schmid regularly leads a jazz quartet and he's right inside the idiom.  All three composers here are really from the jazz side of the tracks rather than classical.  The 12 piece string orchestra are superb.  All in all I enjoyed it a lot....!

Earlier today:  some Freddie Hubbard "Skydive".  Recorded in 1972 and released in 1973.  :) Enjoyed listening to it.

Miles Davis: Ascenseur pour l'échafaud OST

Haven't heard this in ages; found a copy on CD from the NY Public Library today. Damn good. Good mix of bop and cool film noir vibes.
Love this!

@vers la flamme  Yours sounds interesting too.  I'll see if I can find some samples of it.  8) Ah, good ole youtube!  It would be interesting to see the movie too.
