Sorry, I like the studio version but not this one. A lot of lags and ad libs.

Ah well. Maybe I was in the mood for "free-ranging Vaughan."  ;D

I met Mr. Donaldson in 2019 when he was a customer in my store (I don't remember him buying anything).  He passed away in November 2024, eight days after his 98th birthday.

Cool. I have the quartet/quintet/sextet album pictured (as CD), and the BN 5030 pictured as part of the BN "Clifford Brown Memorial Album" CD.

Lou Donaldson used to often appear on Tony Paige's WFAN radio show in NYC. He had some great stories.
This is (basically) a combination of several: https://loudonaldson.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Jazz-great-Sweet-Papa%E2%80%99-Lou-Donaldson%E2%80%99s-has-sports-memories-to-treasure-NY-Daily-News_files.pdf

A great sounding and artfully performed record by an accomplished young saxophonist, Melissa Aldana.

Tina Brooks's True Blue

Such a gorgeous cover. :)

Hank Mobley's No Room for Squares

Yes, he is cooler than all of us. 8)

The Tina Brooks above gave me the idea to spin some albums with covers I like. The first is by Don Martin of Mad magazine fame (he did several for Prestige).
