I heard that Dianna Rigg was actually not allowed to go out in public with more than 21 square inches of exposed flesh for fear of the effect on the male population.

I do not much doubt it!

Watched “Death at Bargain Prices” again last night.  There are ways in which I prefer the earlier B&W episodes, but let's call it a marginal preference.  This is one of the episodes directed by Chas. Crichton, and features "our Mrs Peel in Ladies Underwear."  True to type, Steed fights with his brolly, and bashes one of the baddies with his steel-reinforced bowler, and it is Mrs Peel who discharges a firearm.  Also, one of the episodes in which Diana Rigg wears a leathern cat-suit (with diagonal zippers).  Too bad about poor Jarvis, but that phone call was rather a risky idea.

There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

This is from the very first Emma Peel episode, "Town of No Return." The torso is leather, the sleeves e.g. are fabric.
