Very sad news indeed. I've been a fan of his bass playing and just all-around musicianship since I was a kid. RIP Chris Squire.

Very sad for me too. Yes were part of my youth and coincidentally I have been playing their double album of classic tracks in my car recently.

Jeez what a shame - he was a very talented musician: definteley one of the best Bass players I have ever heard.
He wasn't young I guess but his death still seems a bit premature - was he quite hard living or something?
Edit: I read the article and it seems he died of Cancer - very sad :(

Yes, a Dr. friend of mine said it was a rare and nasty type of acute leukemia.  I knew he was being treated for it, but somehow thought he'd pull through.

I had the good fortune of seeing him play in Yes around 14 times, between 1974 and 2008.  Very sad.

Sad news.  Squire was a huge influence on me as a bass player.  I even had a Rickebacker bass for a little while - but ended up trading it for something because adjusting the bridge was a big pain in the a**.

The Ric basses are strange beasts, like Rics generally, almost like art objects disguised as musical instruments. I liked playing the 4001 through a guitar amp to get "that" sound.
