Oh sorry, it's been a while. I got overwhelmed with being on too many forums and had to cut back but am now thinking I may not have chosen wisely.

Nice to see you back.  And, I do get it, one needs to figure out what to engage in and how much time you want to spend at it...choices and life.

And deleted all his posts, including those about the sad death of his lovely cat...?
I admit that deleting my posts was wrong, and I'm sorry...sort of a kneejerk reaction to so much pointless fighting on this forum, but there are aspects I missed. (And while lurking I see that the atmosphere is a lot less confrontational lately.)

What is really sad and utterly unfathomable to me is that we recently had to have our other precious cat euthanized. I cannot begin to describe how utterly devastating this is--we hadn't even begun to recover from losing Lucy, and now Ethel? I'm too distraught to get into details, and while not the same illness, it's somewhat related, so we think there must be some genetic component involved. This must be some cosmic test to see how much excruciating emotional pain a person can handle.

Good to have you back!

So very sorry that you had to have your other kitty put down too.  I've wondered (re my two girls--different breeds but from the same breeder) if there was some reason as to why they became ill within a year of each other:  did it have to do with the food?  Vaccines?  Something about my home?  All of the above?  You can drive yourself crazy asking yourself questions and looking to blame someone/something.  Just rest in the fact that you loved them, they knew that they were safe with you and that you cared about them, and that you tried your best to look out for them as their human(s).

All the best,

PD

Thank you PD and Karl. Between losing Lucy and Ethel, we adopted a kitten as a companion for Ethel. I wrote about him in the Cat thread.
