Young whippersnapper!

Bureau of Redundancy Bureau!

Whippersnapper has young inclusive in its definition, just as curmudgeon has old inclusive in its definition. (That is... if I were inclined to nitpick, of course

Though not part of the definition of hippie, old hippie always cracks me up, i.e. if spoken currently, that 'old' there is, like, dude... redundant.

But yes, I agree that our young Australian colleague is a whippersnapper -- as it should be ;-)

^I have reason to believe now that a much respected person we were discussing recently is considerably younger than I thought. I assumed he was in his 60s or 70s. "Wisdom" and all that. Interesting how one draws an image of people on forums based only on their "voice".

Oh, I never thought he might be in his 70s; not drifty enough.

I always thought M. Croche was in his 70s or 80s. Same for Ukko. However I imagine SimonNZ to be in his mid to late 30s

Heh. Thanks for that. I'm 45.

So this is where all you guys have been hiding?

I must say, it's a pleasant surprise to stumble across jessop, M. Croche, s. guy, Hilltroll and any other esteemed members from another time and place.

Simon, I'm impressed by your capabilities as a double agent.  8)

Hi, reckoner, I don't know if we have met or not! But welcome to GMG! The *real* best classical music forum on the internet! That other place reminds more of the controversial scenes from Lisztomania rather than a forum for pleasant discussion about classical music. :)

Were you someone I knew when I was COAG from over there?

Cheers jessop.

For not wanting to hijack Ukko's thread, I'll ping you a message :-)

Thanks. I am experiencing a feeling of lightness and fresh air that surprises me. Didn't the atmosphere over there was so suffocating.

I've been a member here for awhile, but there didn't seem to be much going on. Wasn't paying attention I guess.

Look out, jessop, geezer sighting.

Welcome be, Hilltroll!!  Out of curiosity - and please, not to give offense (you can imagine my own re: the ghost accounts Wells Fargo set-up) do you charge to cross over hilly paths, like bridge trolls do over rushing streams? I've been thinking of securing a new money stream myself, you see, and am considering options...

One listen to Les Troyens certainly goes a long way.
No a long time.  This 3 DVD set only last 5 hours and 12 minutes.  A couple of marathons...

Hah. Hilltroll is a kind of antique moniker for me, from the newsgroup rec.music.classical.recordings days in the last century. It was intended to indicate frank speech and (conceitedly) hillbilly wisdom. Pretty much just a geezer nowadays; Ukko is Finnish slang for that condition.
