Mengelberg / St. Matthew Passion

[XB-70 Valkyrie]

I have been wondering how many different recordings there are and which is the best. I notice two CD recordings of the complete work available on Naxos and Philips (OP?). There are also various LP sets. I'm inclined toward the Naxos because it seems readily available and I think their historic transfers are pretty good, whereas Philips--a mixed bag!

Any thoughts on these performances? (I am well aware of the sound quality and interpretive style).
