Hi everyone, I'm new here. My name's Valentin. I'm a violinist. I've recently created a youtube channel called a Violin Perspective.
It's mainly about non-technical aspects of playing the instrument. It is not in any way a tutorials channel but rather observations, experiments and tips from my personal experience that I'd love to share. In a way this channel is intended to be kind of a summary of my 25 years of playing the violin. Mental and emotional side of music is a very subjective topic and usually based on discussions. That's why I'm here. I guess this is the best place for discussions.  :)

So here's the youtube link to the channel  http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvSLbw5RLjWWerYZu9DIAeg .

I'd be very happy to read your feedback, ideas and opinions. I hope these violin and musical extras would be helpful or at least interesting for you. ;D Thanks for your attention!

Hi Valentin and welcome to GMG. I hope that you enjoy your time here.
Good luck with the youtube channel; I had a quick look and it looks good.  :)

Welcome aboard! Who are some of your favorite composers?

valentinp

Thanks. Ha, That's a difficult question, because after all it's all about works I guess. But overall probably Rachmaninoff (I wish he'd write more for violin), Shostakovitch, Bach, Ravel.

Excellent! Ravel is certainly one of my most cherished composers. Enjoy your time here!

Are those hedgehogs in the foreground of the picture? (I love those little critters...)

Ha  ;D . Actually it's an old mini pine-tree. Sorry to disappoint you. But it would be much cooler with hedgehogs. Trying to imagine how would I manage to take this shot if those really were hedgehogs.  ;D
