I'm going out on a limb here and inquiring about everyone's 'Top 5 Favorite Works' from Sæverud. I'm going to have to sit this one out for awhile as I'm only becoming more familiar with his music. A great hope of mine would be that those that don't know any of his music to dive right in. I'd say the place to start are the Peer Gynt Suites 1 & 2 as this was the first work I heard.

I rather like this disc John:

"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).

Aurora Contemporary is a cool label.

They have put out a lot of Nordheim, too, of course, and are cranking out the living composers at a tremendous rate.

How many people apart from Mirror Image have heard enough of this guy to have a current top 5 favourite works? I still haven't heard a single one yet but I haven't forgotten!!!

The new erato

Rondo Amoroso and Småsveingangar. Both small piano pieces.

the phone rings and somebody says,
"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
