I could never get into Earl Brown's music, it never really did anything for me.

I tried with Music for Piano(s) (New Albion)

Wow, you ARE rooting around the attic here, haha!!

I like Brown's String Quartet, and, I'd say the Brown disc to get is that old CRI job, which I believe has been re-released on NewWorld. It has the best overall variety. Yea, I wouldn't want just a whole piano album.

Wolff
Brown
Tenney
Cage
Feldman
(Brant)
Currier
Lucier
Mumma
Gaburo
Riley
Young

What's your cup 'o tea?

I think there's a Brown string quartet on a collection of American String Quartets in my collection too. CRI, New World, Vox Box maybe?

Very familiar with La Monte 'n' Terry 'n' Feldman.

Cage, I'm always happy with Sonatas and Interludes and I'll always at least check his other music out.

Wolff, I like what I've heard. Same for Tenney, although each piece seems so different from the last one, I don't know what he's all about.

Lucier, I'm familiar with I'm Sitting in a Room and Music On A Long Thin Wire...love 'em, I'd like to hear more...and I will.

San Antone

This thread started off referencing the Barton Workshop, but I don't think anyone has mentioned their series of John Cage "number" piece recordings.  Highly recommended, IMO:

Fourteen-Four6-Four3

Eight, Two, One

Fives

I revisited a lot of these Composers yesterday... OY VEY! so much dreck - so much dreary,... not to mention, just hearing some of these... I guess "mostly (c)ommunist" ... I'm just assuming they're all BSL (BatShitLiberal)...

Seriously, ONLY Feldman was "musical"- and in an aggressively cool way- Alvin Curren's FIVE DISC Piano Series called 'Inner Cities' was just... no,... they were ALL "JUST" something I could do in the living room,...

Why does so much of this stuff just infuriate me? I'm starting to think it's the political thoughts of the writers' thereof.

I mean, these people have TONS and  TONS of "music".

where's James????....

It's like I'm looking for some NEW SOUNDS, so I go back over the options, and this time they sound more throw-away than ever. I said, "No way am I going to expend any CASH on these muthaflippaz." Earle Brown was still interesting, but Curran and Lucier and Wolff just blew me away with their tedium.  Rzewski too.

AAAARRRRGGHHGHHHH!!!!!!! >:D >:D >:D

i WILL NOT SPEND ferns on stuff I can do myself.
