The colors and the sort of 'shape shifting' image in that one is bugging me all day. Is that Sokurov again?

Father and Son? (haven't seen it)

You chaps and your shots in the dark. It is. I don't think it's anywhere near as powerful as Mother and Son though.

For the last one, just to shove the spoon in before you clamp down.... :)

3 films by Sokurov, becausae his images are beautiful even if his plots don't always keep up ;)

MT I have not seen it but your #5 for some reason reminded me of In America. I don't know why  ::)

interesting, well, it has nothing to do with America, the actors are both French, and the movie was shot in France....

and it's a darn good movie too!

The guessing is the real fun - not the knowing. ;D

Ah! Molokh! :D

Yep that's it. The second picture shows the girls looking at a film of Furtwangler conducting Beethoven's 9th Symphony. Out of camera is the Fuehrer air-conducting  ::)

Here are the ones we still haven't got:

From M Forever:

A

B

E

From MahlerTitan:

1

3

5

(hints: French actors, shot in France, "darn good movie" ;D)

Perhaps you gentlemen could offer us some clues? Or additional pictures from the same movies?

Also, don't miss the important bit of news for GMG film lovers over here.

mahlertitan

i'll give you hints:
the 1st movie is about love in a very unsual place on earth....
2nd movie: the lady on the left is Gong Li
3nd movie: the lady on the left is Melanie Laurent

No. 5: Je vais bien, ne t’en fais pas
I'll add it to my wish list, shall I?

yes, you must

No. 3: Xi chu bawang (1994) - aka King of Western Chu - aka The Great Conqueror's Concubine

Hm, I glad I had a look at her filmography. I think I've only seen Raise the Red Lantern (one of the most beautiful films ever!), and there's a whole lot to add. (I admit it, I'm a bit behind on Asian cinema - it's difficult to keep up with everything!)

i'm impressed, that's an epic movie that a few talk about nowadays... pity

M forever

I am totally surprised no one got A yet. I thought it would take about 3 seconds for someone to post the answer.
Hints:
A is the scene from which the movie takes its title. It's from England.
B is one of the greatest childrens movies I know after the greatest childrens books author ever (and no, it's not "Harry Potter").
C might be tricky; it's a Japanese movie (well, I guess the sword gives that away pretty quickly), the English title is fairly general and unimaginative; the original title is a complex wordplay and can be translated both as "Princess Bloodstained Snow" or "Yuki Princess of Bloodspill".

I think it's Princess Blade

The children's film: Great children's author... 2 kids -one boy one girl- (looking lost) in the forest..- Is it a Hans &Gretel adaptation ?

OK, I'm blushing with shame because I actually own and like Draughtman's Contract very much. Yet somehow I looked at the photo many times and nothing clicked... :-[ :-[ :-[ ::)

That has got to be the strangest Alice in Wonderland adaptation I've ever seen... ;D

Since the title of this thread is "Film Quiz" - here's a "Film Quiz" or rather "Film of a Quiz" or maybe simply a "Filmed Quiz" or... Never mind.

(Don't mind me, I'm just checking if I can get this Flash thing to work. But you can try to guess the film title anyway... ;D)
