Lieberson's Liebeslied

I know there's a Thread here somewhere...

Anyhow, cracking out Peter Serkin means inadvertently cracking open Peter Lieberson. I have the Piano Concerto (1985?), and two Serkin solo discs of various Composers, which include most all of what is available. There's the DG 'Razing the Gaze', SONY's 'King Gesar' (with narration), and a new-ish Piano Concerto No.3 on Bridge.

I've always enjoyed the first Piano Concerto, obviously on the ultra-famous NewWorld recording with Ozawa. It may be a bit cool, but it's supposed to have a certain "eye of the storm" calm to it. Some find it a bit long, I say it's the one piece like it that I'll tolerate and enjoy- albeit not very often! Still, I rank it up there pretty high.

OK, off to listen to a little Piano Music...

Well, I have had that disc sitting around for a decade and more.  Probably time I actually listened to it.
