Ringing the bells

I have recordings of Berlioz' Symphony Fantastic from the 60s and 70s with Ormandy/Philly.  I prefer the low-pitched 'funereal bells' he uses in both recordings.  I've not heard anyone else use those bells.  It is never a big thing with me, I just really like it    Anyone of you enjoy it?

I'm not a specialist, but those (Berlioz/Ormandy) bells sound like plate bells :
