Just thought I'd register here due to the lack of classical music interest in many guitar forums.
Although I've been interested in classical music for the last few years, I'd still consider myself abit "new" to the whole thing.
Other than that, if you need some help with anything classical/electric guitar related feel free to drop me a message!

Hello Jack - welcome to the GMG Forum!  :)

I'm sure that you'll enjoy the classical music discussions; but also check out the 'Non-classical Musical' thread in the Diner - plenty of discussion there on music that includes guitar (or start your own thread there!) -  :D

Hi Jackthe®ipper, and welcome.  One of my favorite classical guitar CDs is Nightshade Rounds by Sharon Isbin, with an array of great 20th-century pieces.

Indeed, and intended to be as absurd as it sounded.

Your alma mater is anything but losing its touch: it's reinforcing my love of the absurd every moment! ;) The key behind this is seeing existence as something of a mathematical limit. You can have something tending to inexistence, but not just there. ;D

Edit: And I see my post total has finally caught up with the times! 8)

Ah, thanks for responding to an 8-year-old post! Reminds me that I haven't heard that -- or other Isbin recordings -- in some time. She has quite a few that are worth investigating.

Another guitarist you might enjoy -- with off-the-radar work -- is Dan Lippel. (Check him out on YouTube.) He's also a member of ICE (International Contemporary Ensemble) and also co-founded the small, fascinating label New Focus, with his own work and many others.

However much I love the repertoire that Isbin plays (including an amazing concerto by Tan Dun), I have to say that I've never been fond of her tone....although I don't believe I've heard that CD so I might need to listen to some Isbin again. What are the pieces she plays on it?
