My father's BDay was Jan/1, I've always had awful NYEs, as if his BDay always stole any thunder I might ever have...

oy, and this year I was completely shut down...

Now, for some reason, because of this, Jan2 and on has become my time to get things done quickly- by the spring I always seem to be set in my ways, I have to hit the iron NOOOW!!!- but this year I'm in a mental constipation and it's going to be a thing to just get the engine going here...

Did I mention I haven't had the car for a mooonth now? Ugh, this whole season was put on hold so God could teach me a lesson. I'm hoping to get the car tomorrow-

but-

How will I keep from just celebrating, and just get down to business?..........

MUST.......... WORK.................MUST.........

WORK.......

(this is exhausting!!!!!!!!)

My birthday is September 11. I still get gasps of shock and horror when I convey this, as if somehow I chose the date or my life has been permanently jinxed as a result. (Perhaps it has.)

But to the topic of this thread, which changes daily. My big news these next months will be the production of two plays of mine that couldn't be more different. First, in Long Island City, NY, and next month in Maplewood, NJ, my little farce set in a Chinese restaurant, "Peas in the Fried Rice," will have its world premiere at two separate 1-act play festival/competitions. Rehearsals start Tuesday, first performance is January 14.

In early March, a new play about a Jewish college piano major, "A Kreutzer Sonata," will get two performances at Manhattan Repertory Theater in midtown NYC. This is an intense 1-hour drama in which the protagonist is tested in various ways (friendship, sex, education, family) to challenge him to find a way of living in the modern world without compromising his faith. My director and I are already in talks and are starting to find our cast.

Your poor dad, but, like you said, he can't help it and it's only a date. I wish you much success in this new year and I hope both of these plays get massive publicity. It's always a good thing to see others do well.

I've no intention to change much simply because the year now has a different number. I'll continue on as I always do. That's what works for me.

Your work always sounds so cool and interesting, but unfortunately so far away.

Good stuff.
"You overestimate my power of attraction," he told her. "No, I don't," she replied sharply, "and neither do you".

I've started this year off with Shostakovich, so I'm good to go now! 8)
