I have been on this forum for a few days off a year and yet haven't made this thread yet  ???  :(

Seas have parted, life lessons have been learned, friends have been made, so I'll use that to congratulate my almost-anniversary, cheers guys (and gals)  8)

Now for the main meal, your favorites list!

I will organize mine over the next few hours... (I'm practically Mr Xenakis himself in many parts  , so you'd understand)

Lots to pick from, so I'm looking forward to what you friends and family think  ;D

I have never heard his music before, thank you for a few suggestions

I have placed an order on this CD:

Have I made a good choice? piano music is where I often start with a composer

I think its a great album - Evryali & Palimpest are well represented here and among my fav Xenakis pieces

I've heard three pieces mentioned in this thread and found them intriguing. Still a stab in the dark with the piano music CD but I can't make an opinion yet till I receive it.

I just received this in the mail this morning and have played the CD twice, so far I am enjoying it.

It sounds especially modern to my ears.

Evryali reminds me of Bartok, it's quite energetic. Dikhthas has an exquisite interplay between the violin and piano, the chansons sounds very impressionistic, Herma sounds like a really fast Webern (so I like it), Palimpsest sounds a bit like a Stravinsky piano concerto. I don't know the pieces well enough but there seems to be something to it.

Hiketides
