I have enabled the embedding of flash files within forum posts.

For those of you that like YouTube vids, this will enable you to add the video directly to the post, rather than just the link.

Here is a preview of what I mean:

The technique and formating is as follows:
Press the Flash icon

on the post page.
That will produce the following tags:

Code: [Select]

[flash=200,200][/flash]
By default, it sizes to 200x200 pixels
Replace the 200,200 to YouTube's 425,350
Then insert the YouTube URL (not the embed code)between the tags;

Final format for the above result:

Code: [Select]

[flash=425,350]http://www.youtube.com/v/aJ9p1r8OBbU[/flash]
This may become so popular that I may create a new forum sub-board to accomodate and collect great performances.

Doesn't work for me. All I see is a white square where the video should be. Any other Mac users having the same problem?

Can you see the vids when you go to YouTube?

Oddly, Rob, I can see your vid just fine. But the ones that were posted this AM are just white rectangles. I am using FireFox in Windows, and I watch youtube vids all the time. I checked the code they used and it was identical with yours... $:-\$

To embed YouTube vids on this forum, you need to follow the following format exactly:

Code: [Select]

[flash=425,350]http://www.youtube.com/v/aJ9p1r8OBbU[/flash]

Note the size 425,350

Note that the link structure is as above and all that you need to replace is the youtube string of letters at the end.

I could, and I already had Shockwave. For some reason it works now.

Rob, I just tried this and it works very nicely. I posted a video someone has made of Artikulation by Ligeti, with the score "following along" with the music. I noticed over 120 videos of Ligeti alone, so yes, you may have to carve out a separate space for all of these!

I can't get it to work. Could Vista be the culprit? It seems unlikely. I tried 3 different browsers (Firefox 2 and 3, IE 7). Does anyone have an idea about getting this to work?

Do you mean you can't see any videos? Any operating system and any browser should work, but you will need to have Adobe's Flash Player installed.

Do you mean you can't post videos? Look at my original post - the format needs to be followed exactly.

Rob, I can see all the videos, I just can't post my own. That is I can't see them in my own post. And my post that you just copied has a white square in your post. When I copied your original post it worked (no longer available).

I uninstalled and reinstalled the flash player, which works. This problem exists on all 4 browsers I use.

Yes, exactly. I can change the video to anything available, but it will only show up in someone else's post. If I could quote my quote in someone else's post, I bet it would work.

Look carefully at the line of code in Rob's original post. If you cut-and-paste directly from YouTube, you have to remove the word "watch" from YouTube's code. Your code should include the "/v/" followed by the correct code for your video.

I took the liberty of modifying your post above, and now it looks fine.

Try it now!

Edit: I also changed the code in Rob's quote of your post, and that one works now, too. Notice though, I didn't change the size to 425,350 but left it at 200,200, which is why it is a smaller image.
