Jeff Beck was a sideman of fantastic talent who became a bandleader, a role he wasn't suited for. He spent more than half a century forming and disbanding ensembles. He wasn't a singer, composer or songwriter.

    The first group he formed after leaving the Yardbirds, the Jeff Beck Group, was the most memorable. It produced 2 superb albums and made Rod Stewart a star.

As mentioned above, Jeff Beck couldn't form his permanent regular band, and he couldn't sing. Listening to purely instrumental rock/jazz-rock is not to everyone's taste. Some absolutely fantastic Jeff Beck moments can be found in albums by other musicians, like in Roger Waters' 1992 album Amused to Death. You can also try Beck, Bogert & Appice rock trio.

I have got my first The Carpenters album (this one arrived the fastest):

The Carpenters - Horizon.

For me this kind of soft sunshine pop is the antidote for the anxiety ridden dark post enlightenment times we live nowadays. This album recorded in 1974-5 used then state-of-the-art 24 track recording equipment and indeed the sound quality is excellent for a pop album almost 50 years old.

It's feel-good music, and well made, so why not?

They talk about perfect rock albums, but I truly can only think of two: The Rolling Stones's Let It Bleed (ending the 1960s) and this one:



Nirvana's Nevermind (ending the 1980s).

I like Nevermind but can't think of perfect anything. Nor see the point. But it's a definitely a fave!

It's feel-good music, and well made, so why not?

I may not receive the album Passage. Many of their albums are so difficult to buy! Surprising considering how popular they have been. I really want Passage, because it is quite interesting album.

I had that on VHS. I remember liking it, though it was pretty typical as far as rock documentaries go.

I listened to this music a lot at the time but hardly at all since. Then about a year ago, I pulled Blue Turtles out because somehow I had 'Fortress Around your Heart' stuck in my head.

It would also be the first Prokofiev melody I'd ever heard.

Back In The High Life Steve Winwood (1986, Island)
Before I even knew who Traffic were Winwood made a big impression on me. Then I saw Traffic at Woodstock '94 and that sealed it.

My exploration of sunshine pop suffers from the difficulty of getting that music on CD.
Instead I have been listening to Vaporwave and Dreamcore on Youtube.

This kind of music is digital, technological, melancholic, dreamy, psychedelic, nostalgic, ironic, cynical, dark, empty, bittersweet and even scary/traumatic equivalent of new age music. The dark side of new age if you will. It is the soundtrack for liminal spaces and childhood memories.
