I love it too.  The band is perfect and seems always to be on its toes waiting to hear where they are going to go next.  Despite what popular opinion seems to be, Miles is playing his ass off.  It's also pretty interesting to hear the difference between a guitar oriented band compared to the Cellar Door keys oriented band...(spent the last few days listening to that stuff).

I've known few people who've heard it and disliked it...but then, I've known relatively few people who've heard it. It's a shame to lump it with the rest of his 80s input. It's not his playing so much as the keyboards that make the other post-retirement albums hard to listen to.

It was also his newest album when I was just discovering him, so that might add to my enjoyment.

The Complete Bitches Brew..something I haven't listened to in at least 15 years, hated it at that time but trying my best to dig into it this time around.

Do you still hate it? I was listening to Pharaoh's dance last night on the Pod. All I can say is wow! This is ferocious music.

Bill Evans plays his butt off on this album too, but for me the selling point is Mike Stern and those ferocious guitar solos, especially the one on the first Jean Pierre.

There's another live album from this tour, only ever released in Japan (I think the complete show that one of these tracks is taken from) but I've never heard it, and have only seen it online fetching astronomical prices.

LOL - classic.  Has that got "Funky Cold Medina" and "Wild Thing" on it?

certainly don't hate it!!!!  Though The
music isn't as immediate to me as the other Miles I've been listening to recently....Cellar Door, Jack Johnson and We Want Miles.  I'll be spinning it for a while though.

Finally found an unremastered CD in the used bins after 18 months of looking (I know, I could have got one off eBay or Amazon easily enough, but I didn't want to pay shipping for something that should be pretty easy to find).  1981:
