Perhaps something moody like Endure from England, some dark-wave, they have at time classical aftertaste quite cool, so under rated, than more vinyls perhaps a cult double instrumental  crusty sludgy band The Netherlands best rockers for noisy & crusty loud-rock or noise-rock - Wrede the cruel peace, a classic of it's own.

A very eclectic album quite daring avant-garde, brutal beyond words and atmospheric yet noisy.None heavier whiteout being metal, straightforward?

Hello there I'm listening to "purist sludge'' music, of non metal lineage nor punk.

The mighty Floor from USA Florida state, these guys are great, listen to iides in junes I.e or Heather too.

I like my slugde band in a purist mode, of non metal none punk parents.

FLOOR is the real deal, the sleeve are misleading but the band is supreme.

I'm listening to CRUST -Sacred heart- an old band from Texas, kind of cool, remember them or this album.

Celtic frost & Hell hammer,, Listen I'm not a heavy metal dude headbanger. But I really like Hell Hammer and the first 3 Celtic Frost: Morbid Tale, into Megatherion (hudge classic) , Into Pandemonium, after these album I care not for this band, another band I like is Brasil Sarcofago.

You get it old school heavy metal  whit fury and barbaric aftertaste.

Nowaday I think metal just turn wuss, I only consider these 80'' band true metal, back than it ws the real deal, nowadays there rare and expensive in vinyl Format, crap...

New metal kind off s*ck, the sound is less garage perhaps this is what I resent, the sound too clear not enough raw not the same intensity, so I'm more of a classic guys and Jazz than metal.

This one played in the car yesterday might appeal to you M. Deprofundis. A sort of classical crossover both medieval and modern with guitar, harmonium, spinet, bass, violin, viola, pocket cello, bassoon, oboe, percussion - and ominous chanting.

Bert Jansch: L.A. Turnaround

An enchanting album in which British folk is combined with American country and rock influences. Recorded in 1974, but practically unavailable for a couple of decades until it was reissued in 2009.

I hadn't heard of these but they sound OK on YouTube. I'm not a specialist but downloaded these free dark ambient MP3s which are nice in the random mix we play in the car.

What you described as a wall of noise kinda is why I don't care for black metal much. I'm more into it when it has prog elements. Deathspell Omega and Emperor are two very great black metal bands imo.

From an Amazon review: "It is a timeless masterpiece. Disc 1 flows like a single piece of music and ranks with Stravinsky's Rite of Spring as one of the two greatest works of modern music from the 20th century". I can't comment on that as I haven't heard "The Rite of Spring" :P.
