I think I was a big fan of Syd Barrett, the original leader, more than Pink Floyd.  :)

I started to seriously listen to music because of Piper at the Gates of Dawn when I was around 10 y/o. While the Japanese album included See Emily Play, I don't think the USA album had it. All the songs were memorable, but I especially liked Lucifer Sam, Flaming, and Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk.

I have a feeling that you will dig Saucerful of Secrets.  ;D   Plus such a nice cover art.

I was very much more a fan of David Gilmore's playing style than that of Syd Barrett, Manabu. That can be a very touchy subject for Pink Floyd fans.  ;D

I think that I originally had all of the early Pink Floyd albums but I eventually sold them on   :)

Yes, I like the guitar playing of Gilmore. His first solo in Comfortably Numb is my fav.

Nice! In general, I am rather put off by The Wall, so it's nice to be reminded of its occasional high spots!

Cheers, Manabu.

Do you play guitar or any other instrument?

I feel the same way. The Wall is the last Floyd album I bought and imho it's a mixed bag. Still I like some songs such as Hey You and Young Lust.

Yes I play guitar. I was under the impression that you do too!  ;D

Yes, I did play a lot in a former life but not so much any more.

McCartney: Band On The Run

This is undoubtedly, in my humble opinion, the best album that McCartney ever made. Ram, however, would run it a very close second.

McCartney: Band On The Run - CD 2

This second disc features:

Helen Wheels
Country Dreamer
Bluebird (From One Hand Clapping)
Jet (From One Hand Clapping)
Let Me Roll It (From One Hand Clapping)
Band On The Run (From One Hand Clapping)
Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five (From One Hand Clapping)
Country Dreamer (From One Hand Clapping)
Zoo Gang

The versions of the songs above from "One Hand Clapping" are quite faithful reproductions of the originals but have enough variations to make them very interesting to McCartney nerds.

I've been on something of bluegrass jag the last few days.  After going through the major names, Monroe, Stanley, Flatt & Scruggs, I then went a little into the woods.  There are a lot of second tier groups, The Kentucky Colonels are just one.  Featuring one of, if not the best, flat-picking guitarists in Clarence White (one of three brothers that started the group) - this group deserves notice for that alone.  However they are first class in every other respect.

Long Journey Home (1964) contains performances from the Newport Folk Festival.
