RIP Wilko Johnson lead guitarist with Dr Feelgood. My great regret is not seeing the band live.

You must have a very good opinion of yourself to write a symphony - John Ireland.

I opened the door people rushed through and I was left holding the knob - Bo Diddley.

Thanks for that link Lol.  I hadn't heard of them before now, but enjoyed the first song from that link (haven't listened to the rest yet).  :)

And sorry that you weren't able to see them live too.  Which albums of theirs do you have that you enjoy the most?

I don't know if there is an equivalent in your neck of the woods PD but although they made recordings Dr Feelgood is essentially a "pub band". Get the place rocking!

I thought that it was rather surprising then that their live album rose to No. 1 in the UK charts?

I am sure that we have an equivalent here though I'm not quite certain what they are called.  I guess "bar bands"?

How about Canned Heat? More Bluesy then Dr Feelgood, but both down and dirty. Alan Wilson with his slide guitar possibly more gifted then Wilko Johnson. Canned Heat at Woodstock is pretty amazing.

I don't know their music very well, but I've liked what I have heard.  :)

The Scorsese film primed me to revisit this, of course:

My immediate takeaway was how irrelevant Phil Spector was to so many of the numbers ....

John Fahey - The New Possibility (1968)

Thought I knew John Fahey's discography petty well, but hadn't encountered this christmas-themed album before
