First time hearing Beehive Cathedral, a trio exploring traditional Appalachian music, among other genres, but they are pushing all of it further. Great work on fiddles, banjo, pump organ, and harmonica.

Couldn't be there in person for this concert last night, but thankfully it was recorded (two parts below). Here's an appreciation of their 2024 album.

Last night watched the documentary on the making of the Darkness On The Edge Of Town album. Today played the album (which I hardly ever play) and, for the first time, the 2cd set of outtakes from those sessions.

The new edition of the classic Rolling Stones album dropped today. Sound's rather intriguing, mind; loads cleaned up compared to those old vinyl-to-CD transfers. Instruments and vocals come through clearer, take Harvey Mandel's guitar on the opener Hot Stuff, for instance. All in all, I listened with considerable pleasure; one of my favourite albums by RS now sounds even better. Haven't got round to the second disc with the extras yet.

Heh. Hadn't heard this as an album before. Way more Vangelis-y than I was expecting. The dialogue excerpts throughout aren't making me want to revisit the film.

two quiet late-night masterpieces

but feeling as I always do that its that cover that has kept that Springsteen from being more widely heard and widely praised

Some months ago I explored pop artists of the 80s. One of the artists were Laura Branigan. I found her fourth album "Hold Me" the best (ironically the cover art is the worst). For some reason, getting the albums of this artist on CD is quite difficult. Recently I saw somebody selling this 4th album for 27.50 € (about $32) delivered to Finland and that's cheap compared to other offers! Since the seller has "Make an offer" option, I was thinking about offering 25 € delivered, but even this is a lot of money for a used CD! Before doing anything, I listened to this album again on Spotify. I liked it much less than I remembered. 25 € for this would be insane! 10 % of that would perhaps make sense. I let Laura Branigan be. Her music is not the best 80s has to offer and her albums are ridiculously hard to get. Not worth it. I can always listen to this music on Spotify as long as Spotify exists...

The 80s pop music is so tricky! 90 % of it is unspeakable torturous garbage to my ears, but the best 1 % of it is heavenly. Not only is it hard to discover the 1 %, but about 80 % of it is hard to find which means that only 0.2 % of the 80s pop music is 1) good stuff to my ears and 2) can be purchased on CD at reasonable prices. The challenge is to find them within all the horrible garbage. Laura Branigan is better than the 90 % garbage, but not good enough to be in the best 1 % either. Maybe I forced myself to like it more a few months ago, because I wanted to find good music so badly and after 10 garbage artists, Laura Branigan is indeed pretty decent music. When it comes to pop music of the 80s, my current list of wanted CDs is:

Boy Meets Girl - Boy Meets Girl (1985)
F. R. David - Reflections (1987)

Well, nobody in their right mind watches a movie like Flash Gordon for the dialogue...  :D

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Found out about a whole period of history that I hadn't even heard a whisper of - the Singing Revolution.
