Classical Music New Product Survey
A novel concept for understanding performed, composed music has been developed and patented by musician Carl Karapetian and his son, Aram Karapetian.  The product "Amadeus Code" visually and silently demonstrates the "building blocks" of music composition with four (4) coded geometric designs.  The system transfers synchronized tonal information disseminated from live or recorded concert performances.  Amadeus Code is software and hardware friendly.
The A ma de us Code is for persons with or without prior music training who chose to recognize and identify music passages and divisional sections in the form of the music they hear.  The system can be mastered in five(5)minutes by young and adult classical music listeners alike.

• Do you believe this product type can be useful?
The Software might 'work' to its purpose.  Its actual usefulness sounds entirely formalist, cut and dried.

• Would you approve of its use in schools?
I would vehemently oppose it. any worthwhile teacher can convey the same information to a student or class without a software program, whether in person or via an online video-audio presentation.

• Would you use the A ma de us Code?
No.

P.s. The name, too, is horrifically precious.

Best regards.

I found this reply very interesting.

That a teacher can impart the same knowledge does not make this or any software inferior. Does it?

Teaching aids have been around since time began. All no good?
In other words, why your dramatic dismissal of this product in favor of tradition?

These sort of 'teaching machines' that in essence, 'show answers' without supplying the training for the student to arrive at some conclusion on their own imply, to me, something more cut and dried, the fuller and negative implication of the supplied answers is that the student will not learn to, uh, think both independently or creatively on their own.

The aim of a teacher is not, or should not be, to "impart knowledge". Socrates knew it.

The description of the software is unintelligible. The reactions are therefore like a Rorschach ink blot test. :)

What if you're trying to learn alone without a teacher?  Lots of people do that these days, you know.  In fact, lots of people have been doing that for a long time.
