Hello, just wondering if anyone could share some stuff about some good and cool music for string quartet composed since maybe around 2001 to now. Eventually I will have to compose a string quartet piece so I am curious to learn more about some of the more recent works for this very popular ensemble.

BTW you don't necessarily have to stick to 21st century, but it is good to know more about recent works in particular. :)

I quite like Ondrej Adamek's Lo que no contamo from 2010.

Can I start with a piece for violin solo? Wibert Aerts is a great performer and dedicated to defending contemporary music.

You might try Pascal Dusapin's 6th and 7th Quartets newly released on Aeon featuring the Arditti Quartet.  (The 6th actually is scored for string quartet + orchestra.)

Both of these works are marvelous, IMO.
