Rosalba

Hi - I've just joined the site. I'm from Yorkshire, have worked as a junior school teacher and librarian, and am currently a home-maker. I'm a newbie to classical music - been listening seriously for four or five years. Composers that I enjoy include Diego Ortiz - William Byrd - Handel - Mendelssohn - Tchaikovsky - and Chopin, plus a few bits and pieces from the twentieth century. Still haven't even made a dent on Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner or Mahler.

Hoping to learn a little more from GMG and to enjoy myself browsing.

Have a good summer, everyone.  :)

A warm welcome from France !

Well, you will find many fans here and lots of material.  Sometimes it gets a bit intimidating:  On Beethoven piano sonatas alone, there is a thread with 154 pages...  One needs a whole week to read all of it.

Hi Rosalba, and welcome. Diego Ortiz, what an unusual choice! (= good)

Hope you have a great time here.

Do they let you off the fines, secretly?  ;)

Karl Henning

Hah!

The fines at the BPL are so inconsiderable (10¢/day) — and, to be fair, I am seldom more than a day or two late — that I don't mind contributing to the Library's budget at so modest an outlay . . . .

Welcome from me too. Although I'm originally from London the Yorkshire Dales are my favourite place in the UK. Hope you enjoy your time here.

Thank you, vandermolen.
Yorkshire is full of fab places - my favourite part is the North York Moors.

Mind you, East Sussex is pretty cool too. That's where I met my husband and got married. :)

Welcome and enjoy yourself!
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Welcome, Rosalba! I'm a n00b myself, both to the site and to classical music - I've been giving it serious attention for about the same length of time you have.

Though an ocean separates us, we'll explore this stuff together through the marvels of the interwebs! Hope you enjoy your stay.

Well, that's nice to hear too.
My wife's grandmother, a vicar's wife, lived in Nidderdale. She died a few years ago aged 103!
