Yes, I do listen to music other than classical ;D The Japanese R&B singer MISIA is one of my favorite non-classical artists. I happened across her music after being introduced to Asian pop music (which I much prefer to its American counterpart) by a friend. She has a powerful but never overbearing voice which is perfectly suited to the deeply emotional nature of many of her songs. What's more, many of her songs feature a luscious full orchestral accompaniment which greatly appeals to me, needless to say. I find some of her songs as moving as a good number of classical pieces, which is saying a lot! Here are some of my favorite songs of hers:

Hatenaku Tsuzuku Story: https://youtu.be/QdVWtHc2_LU
Aitakute Ima: https://youtu.be/MYo5alIaUOk
Kioku: https://youtu.be/7vR-T0cV5Fw

Yakusoku no Tsubasa: https://youtu.be/zvFNNClXczI
Hoshi no Yohni: https://youtu.be/Fpr0vaSg0Jc
Yes Forever: https://youtu.be/hahZhzl4vg0
Ashitae: https://youtu.be/mDrLC-71V9w

I particularly recommend these albums of hers (unfortunately, they're not on Spotify):

Are there any youtube vids with English subtitles?

Another Misia, a queen a Fado, much more to my taste.  In this CD she sings Carlos Parades poems

Not to my knowledge, but if you Google the lyrics to her songs you can find English translations of some of them.
