Clue, please... :) I presume no ZZ in the name

No, but three consonants do repeat themselves.  :D

One of his compositions is heard once in a (regular) while.

My turn, then. Who is this?

Given your clues, I thought of various annual events & some related music.
However, switching to a span of several years then produced a result:

Spyridon Samaras, the composer of the Olympic Hymn

Bravo!

He was a quite popular composer of operas in his time. His La martire (on a libretto by Luigi Illica no less) inaugurated the Teatro lirico internazionale in Milan, 1894.)

Your turn.

Who´s the person on the right?

You might-might recognize the person on the left, who´s a clue regarding the geography;
and our man is usually seen with glasses, very circular and quite characteristic for him, a bit like those of Stravinsky (in fact, his eyesight was quite poor).

He excelled in many genres and was a really talented and good composer, definitely worth exploring, IMO.

Well, it isn´t.

The genres include a lot of popular music, btw. He also went to the US.

No. I guess the hairstyle fashion of those days made a lot of men look like each other  :)

The one on the left looks very familiar. Possibly Czech? Yup, Alois Haba, which mens your man is...

Jaroslav Jezek.

Never heard about him, though.

Right. His classical works are great and interesting,
his jazz band recordings can be quite catchy too, such as the Bugatti Step https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reMYQSKRO24

Was he English/American speaking?

Was he English/American speaking?

The only clue I'll give will be this: he was the half-brother of a painter and illustrator who worked for two well-known magazines.

I think this time I have stumped you all. >:D
