Herbert Howells (I think!) - can't believe there is one I (think) I know ..hurrah!

If so, I saw him in real life once at a performance of his wonderful 'Hymnus Paradisi'.
"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

Yep! Howells is correct, Jeffrey! A wonderful composer in the RVW line.

Aaarghhh, now I remember; knew him!  :'(  ;)
... music is not only an 'entertainment', nor a mere luxury, but a necessity of the spiritual if not of the physical life, an opening of those magic casements through which we can catch a glimpse of that country where ultimate reality will be found.    RVW, 1948

One of my clues would have been:

'Christo can't stand his First Symphony'.

Now, he is Egon Wellesz, an Austrian composer.

I like his music, especially 'Prophet'.

Also Wellesz's Second Symphony is another fine work.

Now, I know it's not my turn (l'm always stumped, as MI says :D), but this one should be fairly easy to discover.

Hint: none, cause the picture speaks for itself!

Yes, guys, it's Wellesz in the photo I provided above.

Now for Andre's composer in question: it's Karin Rehnqvist.
