I suppose it's my turn to post a photo...who is this composer?
Looks like a very distinguished gentleman!
"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

That distinguished gentleman is Peter Mennin, an American composer.

Now it's my turn. Try to guess who this guy is.

This would be Asger Hamerik. A Danish composer.

Fine composer. Someone kindly gave me a CD of music from Tsar Boris.

Ours goes up to 1751.
So this is Douwe Eisenga ! A Dutch composer, actually from Zeeland ('Sealand'), the south-western sea province, and one whose music should be heard much more.
... music is not only an 'entertainment', nor a mere luxury, but a necessity of the spiritual if not of the physical life, an opening of those magic casements through which we can catch a glimpse of that country where ultimate reality will be found.    RVW, 1948

Indeed. I was sure you'd get that one. But who is the older guy?

Thanks to Google trickery, this is Carlos Guastavino.

I recently posted a raving appreciation of his music (for guitar). I had no idea what he looked like !!

I have, and like, his complete piano music.

Turner

I have a few of Guastavino´s songs, one CD with those only was sold however, due to some rather poor singing.
I believe he is quite a big name in the Spanish speaking world.
