Just discovering this piece. I am feeling what normies feel when they first hear the moonlight sonata.

To save your sanity, assuming you want to, listen to it played on the harpsichord (try Pierre Hantai). It sounds more classically restrained and less like Chopin - it is still a beautiful piece.

Thanks, abe. I prefer Schiff to Barenboim and and Hantai to both. I am not dogmatic, I can happily listen to Bach played on the piano or the harpsichord though I prefer the Goldberg Variations to be played on the harpsichord.

The thing is that I'm just so unfamiliar with the harpsichord -- so I looked up the performance you referenced. And wow, thank you!
