I have come across works by a composer named Houtaf Khoury which might interest some people here:

Very nice Leo - a bit Hovhaness-like.

I have a recording of several of his works ( VC and 2 tone poems) and have always liked them. There are lots of  great passages in his work. I should listen more; I'm surprised he isn't better known.

I happened across his name while looking for recent news about Russian composer Vyacheslav Ovchinnikov (q.v.)

Khoury apparently was a student of his (perhaps), or saw him at least as a mentor.  Ovchinnikov is now in his early 80's.

Houtaf Khoury sent me a notification that his String Quartet #3 was recently performed:

The Third String Quartet seems to me to be an absolute masterpiece. I'll have to YouTube Khoury's music further.

I see that there are a few Naxos releases. Any particular recommendations? The music reminds me a bit of Kamran Ince's Symphony No.2 'Siege of Constantinople' which I like very much.

I'm YouTubing more of his pieces, I like the Concertos.

The comparison which comes to mind is with Vasks.

Unless I had known he came from Lebanon I wouldn't have suspected it from the music.
