I'm having a XX French Flute Meltdown

Either the recital I'm looking at has a weaker interpretation, or a weak recording, or a line-up that I'm not all that excited about.

The Pahud disc, 'Paris', has most of the pieces, but, his playing is not as individualistic as others, say, Zucker (Pahud has that "3rd person" clean and detached view, imo)...

I like to keep the standard competition pieces by themselves: Taffanel, Gaubert, Busser, Sancan, Gabaye, Ganne,... all of "those" pieces,... yes, including Faure (just don't want to hear it).

THEN, I'd prefer to leave the Boulez out of it too, making the Messiaen-Jolivet-Dutilleux blok the "most modern" on the recital...

So many recitals have sucha mix on themthat I can't seem to get what I'm looking for.

The Dufour/Roge recital has my three favorite- Poulenc-Martin-Dutilleux-, but then also has the Widor and other earlier pieces...

Pahud, Bernold, Hurel, and others also have a close mix,...

oy, I'm getting a headache just thinking about it. HERE IS THE LIST I LIKE,... WHAT TO DO???

POULENC

F. MARTIN

DUTILLEUX

HONEGGER 'Romance'

MILHAUD Sonatine

This seems like a silly Thread already... redeem me!!!!!!

Richard Sherman?

Emily Beynon?

Laurel Zucker/ Paula Robison?
Aitkin?

Gallois?

I seek to disengage from this madness at the earliest possible opportunity!!
