sorry but this is weak. if you plan to get blinded then you do it the proper way, smoking and drinking continuously until you've had enough. Joint, 2 pints, joint, 2 pints, etc. Was in Amsterdam in May, no need to brag about our record breaking score  8)

It might be weak, but its not stupid.

you're right, it must be clever to drink and smoke grass  ::)

All I'm saying is that there's no reason to separate them.

For the record and to clear myself from above, I have never smoked marijuana.

I thought you were about to say, "For the record and to clear myself from above, I have never listened to Muzak!"

HA  ;D

My summer job as a sales associate DEMANDS I listen to the Muzak Corporation. I love playing with the Muzak knob in the office. And you know what, without it, I think my day would go slower. Fortunately I get the Muzak for public areas so I hear actual versions of my favorite Aerosmith, Rod Stewart, and David Bowie songs.

Don, you don't know high until you've lit up a J sippin on some Popov on the rocks while listening to crisp and ultra-refined Muzak.

;)

Change that to lit up some high-grade and downing voda while listening to Popov, and I'm in complete agreement.

. Especially when you can get two 40oz bottles of Olde English for seven bucks. Round it up to 11$, and you can get a pack of Marlboro Menthol Lights
Are you in Virginia (or Florida)?  :)

The answer for me is most definitely.

Cannabis most definitely enhances my appreciation of music. It's not like I need pot to really enjoy music, but it changes the experience; allows me to completely lose myself in the music. I've had revelations about music while listening to a piece whilst high that are truly insightful... it opens doors for me that still exist when I'm normal again.

But alas, I only do it occasionally. It's a good relaxer and I wouldn't want to overuse it.

but, then you are not really enjoying music, you are enjoying the cannabis.

i don't need to get baked, music is my drug.

0:) 0:) 0:)

last night i was in the mood to listen to the last movement of Mahler 9, again (i only listen to it like 2-3 times a week, lol). It was just one of those times, the way i listened, and the mood i was in, it felt like what a drug overdose probably feels like.  :o
it helps to just sit back and daydream about random stuff, one moment can remind you of a picture like a tree's leaves falling in autumn, another can remind you of whatever. But while i was listening, i just kept on thinking there can't possibly be anything better in the world, or at least i can't imagine anything better.
at the same time, though, it's really painful to listen to, so it just makes me wonder how something can be so painful and pleasurable at the same time, it's probably not like that with drugs, lol (unless you overdose). I wonder what the chemistry is behind all of that?.....

this morning , though, i played some of it back in my head and had to stop because it's a little too much for the morning.... no, not good for the morning at all.

No, Indiana.

Our governor, Mitch Daniels, decided to ram through a plan to jack up taxes to $4-5 depending on your brand. I got off light, as my beloved Marlboro Menthol Lights aren't too bad. My occasional Dunhill habit, though, is going to stay occasional. It's a good thing that I hover around a pack a day. Otherwise, I'd be in trouble. Also, after having paid 5 euro a pack in Italy, I have some context.

Ostensibly, he wants to "help" people quit; in reality, he's just squeezing a little more revenue out of the state. After he sold our roads, cut government services, and hiked up other taxes.

Enjoy it while it lasts then  :)

Over here, where I live I'd be lucky if I can get a pack for $7.50 (they are a bit cheaper in other boroughs - around $6.50-$7.00 )but still  :-\ I was in Miami a few weeks ago, I was surprised to find that you can get a carton for something like $27.00, probably cheaper than Duty-Frees and even internet retailers!
I will be ordering cigarettes from people going there for vacation from now on  :D

Yes you are, its like if you eat an enormous sandwich stoned, are you enjoying the sandwich or the pot? Your enjoying the sandwich, the pot just makes it better. Pot makes it easier to concentrate and enjoy things, and music is one of them.

question 1: why would you ever eat a sandwich while stoned?

question 2: Why do you need to make music "better", do you not like it as it is?

of course i have no business to tell anyone of you how you should listen to music, but, it seems to me that listening to music while getting high is a bit on the strange side, but maybe i am just a "purist"....

Marijauna can give people a strong appetite (and by the way it's useful for relieving abdominal discomfort and nausea.)  It can also enhance the taste senses.

Why do people spend thousands on audio equipment (I'm thinking of things like tube equipment that isn't necessarily more accurate)?  To try to make a good experience better.

I find it strange that you find it strange.

Well this is a silly question  :P Because its yummy... ;D Fruits and vegetables especially become tasty, like lettuce tastes sweet. Did you know that?

The music doesn't become better or worse, it makes it easier to concentrate, you can feel the notes pounding on your brain almost. The sandwich on the other hand becomes better. I don't know the science behind it but food tastes yummier, thoughts become deeper, and touch becomes more intense. I think out of the 5, only sight doesn't improve.

You'll just have to try it I guess. Its fun to do occasionally. Once I had a history final the next day, and like a good student I hadn't studied at all the whole semester, so I began to read the book. I needed an A to get a B in the class and sure enough it helped me read the book (on the recommendation of a different teacher) and I got an A on the test. I wouldn't have read the book alone because it was boring how it was written. Also, it makes it easier to fall asleep, lie down and like a dog your asleep.

Thanks for the replies all.

May I also suggest that everyone get baked and head on over to the thread in the General Classical Discussion Forum entitled "Most intense ending to a piece of music..." Go through that. Insanity over here right now let me tell you...

got 3/4 ounce to last me a week... :D

andy

MM the sandwich example is good... it's true, food does indeed taste great high.

This is true. It's not like you hear the music differently, it's just easier to focus on it and comprehend. Pot also enhances my appreciation of art, probably because I slow down and really look "into" a painting while high.

Not everyone should get high and listen to music, but I do think they should keep an open mind about it. It's hard though, we've all heard drug propaganda from a very young age. Public sentiment is changing towards pot, though slowly.

Well, my mom-in-law does a lot of delicious baking at home, so we don't often go out to "get baked."  We do often listen to classical music while enjoying Mamochka's baked goodies.

andy

One thing I forgot:

Do you ever have a drink or two with friends to loosen up and relax?

It's the same idea with smoking before listening to music. A bit of alcohol is helpful in social situations because it loosens one's tongue. Marijuana doesn't help one be more social (usually), but it's often great at helping one enjoy music.

In the case of some tongues, loosening isn't really helpful, is it?  8)
