I've been trying my hand again at writing a string quartet, these are so far my attempts:

"Neoclassical"
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/string-quartet-sketch-11

"Feldmanesque"
https://soundcloud.com/richannes-wrahms/string-quartet-sketch-0

It is a difficult task with the way I've set in things. Hopefully you'll listen, find something interesting and a lot to critique too.

I like these works! Especially when there is counterpoint and thicker textures. I don't hear much amplitude variance, which would help your sound, but that's probably a technical issue. It's nice when you go into a quieter passage. Keep at it!

Some nice harmonies in those quartets. Are you working with tone rows again?

Uhor

For pitch I am using a system that multiplies fragments of tone rows with each other to produce a series of tones for each instrument.

Interesting!

I never really understood pitch multiplication. How does it work?

Uhor

I do it this way:

You take two chords A and B,

AB is the result of building chord B on every tone of chord A

BA is the result of building chord A on every tone of chord B

usually repeated tones in the resulting sets are omitted but in these String Quartets I didn't omit them.

A "free style semi-tonal" string trio.

I re-wrote the second half of my "tonal" String Trio No.2 to make it more lively. Still may revise it in full a bit later.

Reworked the series into a rather sparse String Quartet.

Some nice harmonic moments here. It initially seems very episodic but once you hear it a few times it kind of has an archipelago feel—separate but not disparate islands.

Uhor

Thank you!

I made a Wind Quintet based on another series. A bit rough in the end though.

I've been trying to create a personal set of counterpoint rules. This is one attempt.

This also uses the basically same rules but sounds quite differently.

I've been writing little things lately, here's the intro to a quartet.

I've exapanded the work above somewhat, same link.
