There's nothing to 'get', it's as simple as the title says  :D

Providing there aren't 2 billion responses, I promise I'll listen to them all (even if they're Mozart!  ;) - Jessop will get that, lol)

Cheers!  8)

Been a heck of a long time since I last listened to that!  :o

I got a few performances of it, looks like I'm starting this with Ligeti!  8)

I may add, the less familiar to me the better  ;)

ComposerOfAvantGarde

Are you familiar with Mozart's String Quartet K590? ;)

ComposerOfAvantGarde

One more suggestion, also Mozart (sorry!)
Misericordias domini K222

Manwithaplan

No I'm not..... ::)

Looks like another two pieces lined up  ;)

I'm on the Mozart presently but that's up next! (obviously). Conveniently it's one of my favorite classical songs/Lieder  8) It's made me cry in the past, so I wonder how '2018 Alien' will react  ;)

I see from the look of it there's a soprano there, I'm personally more of a baritone guy with Mahler but perhaps that's just me?

@Jessop

I gotta say, Quartet 23 is sounding quite alright  ???

@Daverz

The Ligeti PC was tight and groovy as ever. I'm more for the VC personally but it's so darn good. Also those rhythms in the opening (mvt1) too are excellent  8)

I personally have no preference as long as the vocalist has a pleasing timbre to their voice and sing with feeling, then I'm all ears.

Georg Friedrich Haas: String Quartet No. 9 (JACK Quartet, live recording) -- I heard this live in December, performed in total darkness, and thought it was marvelous. I guess you should turn out all the lights to get the full experience.

It's a good one! And the finale is bonkers; it's getting close to middle period Beethoven in how he treats the music texturally. ;D

I discovered Vermeulen in the early 1970's, when a foundation called Donemus (Latin for "Let us donate") offered both a recording AND a score of this work for a ridiculously low price!  I quickly discovered that...
