Well, this one turned out more interesting than the string quartet game is shaping up to be.

Really? Why is that? I think most informed listeners looking at nominees would pick Wagner, Monteverdi, Liszt and Schoenberg as the obvious choices.

Take those four and the tie between Mahler and Ives, you've got yourself quite a range of unique styles, albeit not much in terms of different periods. The finalists in general make quite an exciting list, though I would rather have seen Beethoven in there than Scriabin. As for why I find it more interesting than the string quartets game so far, I already posted about that in the round two thread.

Thanks for voting, and I hope that at least one of your favored entries did well in this final round.

At various points in this round I supported 4 of the finalists. Can't complain  :).

Four of the finalists (Mahler, Wagner, Ives and Arnie) have been favorites of mine for over a half century. So yes, I'm pleased with the results. (Although, truthfully,  I think Debussy, Haydn and Stravinsky more innovative than Mahler).

"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."
