Naxos prefers the download-only model.  For Jack Gallagher's Symphony № 2 to be available on CD, the composer had to guarantee that he would buyback any discs up to a certain number which did (do) not sell.
I thought about this in the shower this morning and, aside from mild irritation with Naxos and sadness at this whole state of affairs, it left me wondering: who paid for the LSO to appear on that CD?

So, yes:  the project was a significant financial undertaking for the composer.  I am unspeakably proud of Jack, that the piece itself is so magnificent, it was artistically worthy of the extension of his resources.

Naxos should sign Taylor Swift and One Direction if they want to make tons of money. No buyback guarantees needed with those artists.  :D

Quote from: Opus106 on August 31, 2012, 10:42:35 AMI just love the cool air of confidence this man exudes in almost every interview I've read.

Basically, all the interviews with Heyman I read, thus far, boil down to the same. (All showing the same storyline, starting with the odd beginnings, then unstoppable triumph and coolly modest superiority re all haughty former competitors now down on their knees; I like them though.)   :)
... music is not only an 'entertainment', nor a mere luxury, but a necessity of the spiritual if not of the physical life, an opening of those magic casements through which we can catch a glimpse of that country where ultimate reality will be found.    RVW, 1948

Naxos' website sucks! It has always been slow as hell. Search something and half of the time it takes a minute to have search results and half of the time there is an error! Whoever made the pages doesn't know how to make functional webpages! Yesterday I wanted to download the newest Naxos catalogue as a pdf-file. I tried all the "catalogue" links but I didn't find the right one! All kind of "naxos app catalogue" garbage instead! Finally I GOOGLED "naxos catalogue 2018" in my browsers and it gave me the link to it, but it seems to be impossible to find the link on the Naxos webpage. Naxos, your MAIN Cataloque is the most important thing! So frustrating slow webpages I usually visit once a month to check the fortcoming releases.
