Has anyone mentioned the passing of George Walker.  He was the first African-American Composer to receive the Pulitzer Prize in 1996 for Lilacs For Voice and Orchestra .  He passed away on August 23, 2018.

I met him.  It was 2010 and the work was Foils for Orchestra (Hommage à Saint George) (West Coast Premiere) which was a very fine and intense work about St George and the dragon.  A very fine and modest composer.  RIP.

"l do not consider my music as atonal, but rather as non-tonal. I feel the unity of all keys. Atonal music by modern composers admits of no key at all, no feeling of any definite center." - Arnold Schoenberg
