Hilariously disastrous publicity for a local school's Open Day for prospective parents.

Less than subtle, more than clumsy.  ;D

Very true. If my daughter had gone there I could be driving around now in a Jaguar rather than a Ford KA  :-\

Yeah, but I remember you talking about your daughter, and it seems she's on the most worthwhile and fulfilling track. So in that light, your Ka is cool imo.  8)

Further perspective: many years ago my late wife took me to her old school. She was a full time boarder (Denstone College - you know it?) and her father was educated at Winchester and from there he went directly to be an officer in the army. Anyway, some of her friends had their parents pick them up at end of term in a Roller or Daimler or something, but her father arrived driving his old Volkswagen Polo that had wheel trims missing and stuff. ;D And this was a guy listed in Debretts and that other directory (name escapes me) but although I'm sure I'm not who he had in mind for his daughter he and I got on great, because he knew I'm a solid man. So the hell with the shallow philosophy espoused by the likes of Vinehall.

and now with 30% less buggery

Hiarious. What a joke, on any level. You've no idea about what can take place in that sort of scenario, but you don't let that stop you making a tasteless comment.
Now, what flavour will you choose when making yourself out to be the victim here? Direct? Or passive aggressive?

e: just noticed the line in your signature; at least it's half right.

Very interesting - thanks. Yes, I was only joking about my daughter who has indeed pursued a very worthwhile track. I'm not sure I knew that you had a 'late wife' and I'm very sorry to hear that. I don't know of Denstone College but I just looked it up - it belongs to the Woodard Foundation which is a prestigious educational group. Nice that you got on well with your father in law. I have been lucky in that respect as well.

Too honest. Like the old slogan in Hummer ads: "Yield to nothing but temptation."

(Do non Americans know what a Hummer was? It was an armed personnel carrier converted to a luxury vehicle, subsidized by a sneaky tax exemption.)
