"The Complete Short Stories of Somerset Maugham" reread after a couple years.

This is a boxed two volume collection published in 1953. I got it on Ebay, repaired the edging on the slipcase with black origami paper.
I just like the feel of handling those noble tomes...

Among the books I constantly reread poetry gets the pride of place; besides Romanian poets, it's mostly Baudelaire, Poe, Rilke, Trakl, Esenin and Pessoa.

Also, Pascal's Meditations.

By comparison, most of my current re-reading is almost entirely frivolous.

I guess it's balanced by most of my current listenings.

And Baudelaire isn't frivolous?

Ghost of Baron Scarpia

I don't re-read much. Started the process of re-reading Conrad and Faulkner. I guess I've read most Dostoyevsky more than once.

Judge for yourself.  :)

L'albatros

Qui hante la tempête et se rit de l'archer ;
drum verzeihn Sie, hahaha,
wenn ich lache, hahaha! "

I will quote my hero, Daddy Pig, upon encountering the French Language.

Those are wonderful stories. Have you seen the movies Quartet and Trio, each anthologies of several stories?

I had those hardcovers long ago. Now I have Kindle.

Seriously now, imho French poetry --- which I am able to read in original --- is on a par with the German and English one; Russian and Spanish are not far behind, either. Of course Romanian poetry tops them all...  ;D

I see at least 56 different poems named "Oda pentru victimele mele"

If you can spot the error in the spelling and come up with the right one I'll forgive your obsession.

Here is wisdom. When I am being frivolous, I do try to take it very seriously.
