I have been trying to just buy downloads and listen more to Spotify these days.  Don't know when I'll be able to set up my stereo system again, living in an apartment.  Discouraging. :'(

You need a set of super-fancy headphones.

I mainly use Bose Bluetooth headphones. I can mop the floor while listening.

I have neighbors as well since I live in a condo. I recently upgraded my stereo system to a pair of Polk Audio Monitor 60 speakers and a Sony receiver, and haven't used it much. But I find headphones very uncomfortable, so >98% of my music listening is done at work where it's okay to blast the music. Here's a photo of my system at home:

That's what mine would like if I took them out of the mounds of boxes I have.

Right off the bat I recognize the Rubinstein "pink thing" the complete Liszt, the Beux Arts, the Reiner, perhaps the Perahia boat, but I only see two of the three Mercury boxes. What's with that?

No sane man would be without all three Mercury boxes!!!

Your headphones are not super-fancy enough, then.

I have the Rubinstein, the Perahia, the Karajan, the Toscannini, and so many other box sets I know I'll never listen to all of them.  In fact, I'm probably going to sell the Rubinstein just because I could get $500+ for it.

Domestically we were fast approaching a situation when something had to be done. So bit the bullet and built a small extension on the front of our house. One end is filled up with LPs and the other, my equipment. I run speaker cables through to the adjoining listening room. Of course, as always the way that any collector will fill up available space. Most of the box sets have migrated upstairs along with jazz LPs and some CDs. I am very close to running out of shelf space and forced into the odd cull which I often regret letting something go. Another bigger extension is not an option!
