Can you think of any reason why this Mozart 40 is broken up into 13 parts? The only one I can think of is that Brilliant Classics is trying to generate more revenue -- as most streaming services pay by the number of tracks streamed.

The rule "don't attribute to malice that which can be explained by incompetence," is often a good guide. Possibly at the label someone had access to a folder with subtracts that were subsequently assembled into tracks, and they mistakenly uploaded it to the server instead of the final product. Just a thought.
Formerly Scarpia (Scarps), Baron Scarpia, Ghost of Baron Scarpia, Varner, Ratliff, Parsifal, perhaps others.

This is a solid point.  :-\

Okay, someone solve the mystery for me:

Naive records just photographs a random model on their album covers, right? It's almost always a lady, she's always beautiful, and the ladies have nothing to do with the music on the record?

Alternatively: why are they giving away free music that has nothing to do with this beautiful lady?

It's perhaps a bit silly - but then it's also the season: Our Christmas Podcast edition before we return to serious things like Karl Weigl and Nino Rota. Cheers, happy Advent, merry Christmas and so forth!

Any time I want to look for John Butt's recordings, I end up feeling like a 12-year-old.  :-[

I had a co-worker named Butt. When he first joined the team, and I would mention him on the phone to people outside the company, I pronounced the vowel so that the name rhymed with foot, but (!) he corrected me. He's a good sport about his name, really.

My very first job as a teenager was at a restaurant, across the street from my college.

The ( male ) owner's last name was, Nipple.

Years later, when applying for a different position, the person interviewing me asked, " Was the owner of this restaurant really named Nipple ? "

( Note, Mr. N was a truly ideal first boss. I was lucky to have him. )

Last night I had a dream that I was in a room with a representative from Amazon and the guy selling the new Sony Michael Tilson Thomas box set with 70ish CDs. I said, "I want it, but not for the $299 you are charging, I want the price to go down." The Amazon rep said, "I can make the price go down by beating this guy up." And then he just started attacking the seller! With every punch and kick the price dropped more, until it was down to $85 and I pulled out my computer and clicked "buy."  ;D

I chuckled myself, and since I'm reasonably confident of not being a bad person, I'd say you should have no worries on that account.  8)

( Having said that, I'll admit to searching out any and every excuse for a positive feeling this week. Even the prospect of performing Mahler's Resurrection next month hasn't staved off the sense of a great foreboding lurking in nearby shadows. I hope it's just me being silly. )
